Description/Job Summary

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY, APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES NORTH OF PHILADELPHIA, PA.         

Café the Lodge is seeking a Cook to provide direct support and management of daily operations. The Cook will be able to take responsibility for the cleanliness of the environment and quality of the food products served. The Cook will be able to manage kitchen operations in absence of the Chef when necessary. Café the Lodge is a groundbreaking work program that employs individuals with mental health diagnosis. Providing excellent service to the community while employing those with disabilities is what sets Café the Lodge above the rest.

This is a part-time position for 25 hours a week. 

Essential Duties and Functions:
  • Leading a small kitchen in daily operations
  • Train new and existing kitchen staff on the preparation, arrangement and plating of dishes
  • Support and troubleshoot a point of sales system
  • Respond to customer requests or concerns personally and professionally
  • Manage catering orders from request to delivery
  • Purchase and manage food stocks as necessary to ensure adequate inventory
  • Teach, mentor and maintain confidentiality of all vocational staff
  • Cleaning of the kitchen and stock area to maintain health and safety standards

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of High School or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years restaurant/kitchen experience
  • A current and valid driver’s license
  • Criminal record clearances
  • Knowledge of food safe handling practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sensitivity to individuals with disabilities
  • Serve Safe Certification (preferred)
  • Positive affect and patience
  • Must have reliable transportation and active vehicle insurance 
The ideal candidate will have: 
  • Catering knowledge
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed
  • Food safety certification
  • Additional experience as a food server

Compensation is $11.00 an hour
