Description/Job Summary

Starting rate is $14.25 an hour for on-call positions and $14.75 for full-time positions.   

Located in Germantown, Womanspace Philadelphia is a 10-bed residential facility for women with a history of chronic homelessness. WSP provides evidenced based treatment from a Recovery Model perspective.  We are seeking Full time and on-call Community Care Specialist (CCS) to work with women who have substance use treatment needs along with overlapping medical, familial and mental health needs.  Full time positions work 40 hours Monday through Friday.  For on-call positiongs, amount of hours can vary according to your availability though ability to work flexible weekend hours and all holidays is a must.  Shifts are 12am-8am, 8am-4pm, and 4pm-12am. 

The CCS will work directly with our residents by facilitating improved life skills, identifying and accessing community resources and providing support to achieve treatment goals.  Additional daily responsibilities include building relationships, providing encouragement, oversight/demonstration of residential cooking and cleaning skills,  documentation completion, and accompanying individuals on various outings/appointments.  CCS will also work directly with Clinicians, Psychiatrist, Nurses, outside angency staff (Case Managers, PCPs) to contribute to our holistic approach to treatment. 

Appropriate candidates will be compassionate, caring and enthusiastic about our mission, and will possess the desire to interact with individuals creatively through modeling, teaching, assisting, and listening. This is a fast paced environment where communication, follow through and team work are crucial skills for all employees so that we can be successful in our service delivery.  Understanding of substance use/addiction is necessary for this position.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Build relationships with outside supports
  • support residents with idenitfying and accessing community resources
  • maintain the safety of environment through safety checks, building rounds, and engagement with all residents
  • Provide encouragement, motivational interviewing, and ongoing support
  • Facilitate accountability schedule and activities to support resident engagement 
  • Oversight/demonstration of residential cooking and cleaning skills and other activities of daily living
  • Completion of documentation including incident reports, shift reports, safety checks and other reporting
  • participate as a member of the treatment team through active participation in team discussions and email communications to share observations
  • clean staff offices and bathroom
  • scanning and uploading documentation to Avatar, the electronic health record



Required Experience

2 years of Direct Care Service experience in drug and alcohol treatment is required.

Required Education

High school diploma or GED and some human service related secondary education is preferred

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED + some human service related secondary education is preferred. 
  • Basic computer and typing skills, willingness to be trained in use of electronic health record
  • 2 years of Direct Care Service experience in drug and alcohol treatment is required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
