Description/Job Summary

Wister Street provides a therapeutic residential environment for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who have some history of forensic involvement. This transitional program helps people learn social, emotional, behavioral, and life skills to facilitate independence, enabling them to move on to a permanent living situation. Wister Street is seeking full-time Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Direct Support Professionals are responsible for assessment, planning implementation, monitoring and evaluation of daily living skills programs/routines for Wister Street residents. DSPs are responsible to the supervisor assisting with the management and coordination of program activities.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide Counseling and Crisis Intervention to residents
  • Assist and Supervise with Medication Monitoring and Management
  • Documenting progress of goals plans utilizing program approved documents
  • Documentation of program and resident related activities. Utilizing program approved procedures
  • Instruction in life skills areas, e.g- academic and vocational development, personal and room care, meal planning/preparation, laundry assistance, financial management, shopping, socialization, utilizing community resources.
  • Perform general maintenance of home in accordance with the acceptable community standard conducive to residents habitation.
  • Following supervisor designated staffing rules and patterns.
  • Maintaining communication lines among fellow staff members and management to ensure continuity and consistency of program.
  • Will attend and participate in staff meetings, staff trainings, supervision sessions and other resident/program related meetings
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma
  2. Valid Driver’s License
  3. 4 year experience working the Mental Health system
  4. Computer Literate ability to navigate the internet, ability to operate Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
  5. Ability to work in a fast paced environment
