Description/Job Summary

The School Services Direct Support Professional (DSP) will provide center-based and community-based direct support to adults with developmental disabilities. Upon completion of paid training, staff will work one-to-one with our participants providing a variety of community-based supports and instruction, including: independent and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skill-building, job-coaching and community integration. 

Scheduling is flexible as well, with a variety of day, evening and weekend shifts available.

Starting pay is $11.00/hr. plus mileage reimbursement. Interested candidates should fill out the online application and attach a resume.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Provide supervision and guidance for participants during skills building activities
  • Implement individual treatment plans for participants
  • Assist with daily living activities, including  assisting with personal hygiene ( restroom assistance)
  • Develop a rapport with participants and cultivate a safe and supportive relationship
  • Update participants' case notes on a daily basis
  • Ensure an appropriate staff-to-client ratio at all times
  • Some positions have physical requirements. Examples include standing or sitting for extended periods of time, lifting heavy objects on regular basis, do repetitive tasks, requirements to bend, stoop, reach and so forth

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Drivers license
  • Working vehicle
  • Current registration and insurance 
  • Clean driving record 
  • A BCI background check with no disqualifying offenses

This creative, fun, intellectually stimulating, art-based day program provides family support services, community job development and supported employment services. School Services works with students in 6 different school departments from East Providence to Cumberland.
