Psych rehabilitation specialist will work with program residents to develop and / or enhance independent living skills to assist in transition from LTSR placement to a more independent community setting. Psych rehab specialist (PRS) will complete an initial assessment with each resident upon admission to determine skill level and areas of need. PRS will work in collaboration with program therapists and clients to develop a plan of care to increase client skill levels through group facilitation and individualized psych rehab activities. Psych rehab specialist will provide oversight and supervision to psych rehab support staff in facilitating psych rehab activities daily within LTSR. Psych rehab specialist will plan and facilitate therapeutic outimg in the community with program residents.
2 Positions available Sun-Thurs 10a-6p OR Mion - Fri 2p-10p.
Promote principles of recovery and psychiatric rehabilitation with program residents and staff.
Provide skill-building services including, but not limited to assisting in recovery management, promoting independent livng skills, identifyng personal strengths/ assets.
Participate in treatment team meetings as requested.
Utilize motivational interviewing to effectively identify the member’s strengths, needs, motivation, triggers, and goals.
Facilitate daily group and individual psych rehab activities for program residents to increase level of independent living skills
Document daily activities in electronic health record,
Complete all other assigned tasks as designated by the Unit Director.
Seeking candidate with experience providing psych rehab services to clients with chronic mental health issues.
Candidate should posses the following:
Understanding of Psychiatric Rehabilitation regulations.

Organizational and time-management skills.
Demonstrate skills using Microsoft Office software for tracking services for program funders
Ability to support and implement RHD and unit values and beliefs.
Ability to engage residents in an effective, therapeutic and recovery-oriented interactions.
A thorough understanding of Psych Rehab Core Values and Principles and the requirements and expectations of Allegheny County OBH and Community Care Program Standards.
Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist- Must possess one of the following:
A bachelor’s degree and 2 years work experience in mental health direct service,
1 year of which must be work experience in PRS. CPRP certification shall be attained within 2 years from the date of hire as a psychiatric rehabilitation specialist.
Experience with providing direct care services to clients with chronic mental health issues.
RHD Glassport LTSR is a long-term structured residential program serving eligible adult males between the ages 18 to 65 who are residents of Allegheny County and have been diagnosed with serious mental illness and substance use disorder, or dually-diagnosed with an intellectual disability. Residents may also have a forensic history.
