The Mainstay Western Clinician provides therapy to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or mental health diagnosis that have problematic sexual behaviors.  The program clinician works with the Mainstay Western team to ensure a continuous therapeutic environment that target and focuses on risk reduction.  The Clinician conducts their work with respect to the Mainstay Western mission and RHD vlaues.

Essential Duties and Functions


  • Coordinate and complete initial risk and needs assessments for potential consumers
  • Cooperate and communicate with inter-disciplinary team members to ensure all components of consumers’ program work in partnership
  • Work in compliance with RHD, unit, and probation/parole policies and procedures to develop individualized treatment plans and implement feedback for each consumer supported
  • Participate in quarterly Mainstay safety protocol review meeting
  • Provide regular clinical updates on each consumer
  • Guide the consumer in the development of safety plans
  • Provide weekly individual, group and family therapy as indicated
  • Train staff in ongoing consumer needs and effective implementation of the individualized treatment plan
  • Provide emergency consultation in crisis situations
  • Maintain open communication with all team members including DCIQ, the Division, and other team members
  • Perform site visits on regular basis
  • Incorporate, as appropriate, the concept of recovery
  • Inform staff about best practices and implementation with regard to risk management and recovery
  • Attend scheduled trainings as required or assigned
  • Attend and participate in Individual Service Plan meetings
  • Conduct assessments on an ongoing basis to assess consumers level of risk and need and communicate results and indications to all members of the team
  • Provide training regarding best practices related to risk reduction and risk management as appropriate for each consumer
  • Complete a brief contact note for all meaningful contact with consumers, including therapy sessions, and communicate this note to all members of the Mainstay team within 24 hours of the meaningful contact
  • Complete formal therapy notes, for groups, individual and family sessions within one week of the session and maintain consumer files
  • Support consumers through the registration process as applicable
  • Conduct functional behavioral assessment for each individual support
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive behavioral support plan and train staff on plan implementation
  • Collect and analyze data to support individuals served in obtaining goals
  • Represent the Mainstay program in a professional manner at all times
  • All other miscellaneous duties as requested or assigned


Qualifications


  • Minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a human service field or related experience
  • Prior work experience (minimum of three years) working directly with individuals with problematic sexual behaviors
  • Prior experience (minimum of three years) working directly with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health issues
  • Completed training on functional behavioral assessment and positive behavioral supports (preferred)


Qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of and compliance with the PA 6400 Regulations and IDS Guidelines
  • Knowledge of professional standards of practice (ATSA) and all applicable laws
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form
  • Ability to support and implement RHD and Mainstay values and beliefs
  • Ability to speak frankly, honestly, and appropriately about sex and sexual matters
  • Ability to engage clients and staff in effective, therapeutic and healthy interactions
  • Strong organizational, clinical, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to utilize and navigate Microsoft programs and applications
