Description/Job Summary

The Employment Specialist is a job support/job coaching position. This role supports clients while they are working in a retail environment. Those with with retail experience are strongly desired. 

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist the clients in performing job duties in the community.
  • Support the clients to maintain appropriate work place conduct while working in the community.
  • Support the client with counting money and giving the correct change to customers.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Thorough and compliant documentation.
  • Maintain 1:1 ratio at all times.
  • Insure that the employers’ productivity and safety requirements are met.
  • Performing task analysis and job analysis
  • Facilitating open and smooth communication between client and employers.
  • Supporting the client to complete job logistics to the satisfaction of the employer.

Required Experience

  • Retail experience
  • Must be able to stand for retail sales activities for 2-4 hours
  • Minimum 1 year experience serving individuals with IDD, Autism, SMI in community inclusion, technical skills acquisition and employment
  • Technical expertise in any of the following:
  • Preferred: CESP Certification and/or ACRE
  • Preferred: Experience with OVR placement cycle
  • Minimum education: GED or HS Diploma.
  • Required: Reliable transportation and drivers’ license
