Resources for Human Development is looking for an energetic, dedicated, flexible and self-motivated team player to support a 50 year old women diagnosed with IDD and Autism.. The preferred candidate must be willing to support not only the individual but
her elderly mother with dementia as their goal is to remain together in their own home for as long as possible. The preferred candidate will need to be able to support, engage and advocate for this individual in a variety of setting including home and community.
This position is located in Schnecksville, Pa which is about 15 to 20 minutes from Allentown, Pa.
The chosen candidate must be available to attend all trainings and staff meetings as well as be able to work one of the following schedules
Sunday 9p-8:30am Thurs 9p-8:30am
Mon 11p-8:30am Fri 9p-9am
Tue 11p-830am Sat 9p-9am
Wed 11p-8:30am Sun 4:30p-9p
These are awake shifts and the preferred candidate must be able to remain alert and awake.
There is a possibility to work additional hours when needed.
Holidays are required.
Minimum Job Duties:
Assist individuals with budgeting skills, financial decisions and making purchases
Give input in completing annual skill assessments
Provide personal care as needed to assist the individual in maintaining their health and appropriate public appearance. This may include but not limited to toileting,oral care, hair and nail care, bathing and/or dressing
Support the individual in completing household responsibilities, meal prep and attending to personal matters, including health maintenance, personal safety
Support individuals in achieving outcomes and desired activities.
Support individuals in developing and maintaining appropriate relationships with the community, family and friends
Support the individual in advocating for themselves, and be an advocate for the individual when needed
Document accurately all progress notes, mileage logs, MARs, incident reports, seizure charts, behavioral charts, workman comp paperwork before leaving shift
Support the individual is addressing issues concerning the home, vehicle, or RHD/individual property and reporting concerns to the appropriate parties
Complete electronic time sheet at the end of every shift
Attend all mandatory staff meetings, supervisory meetings and trainings as identified by RHD, or State or governing agencies
Clearly communicate with other Direct Support Professionals, families, RHD supervisory personnel, support coordination and ancillary services
Immediately report any change of status in an individual including but not limited to injuries, illnesses, behavioral issues, emotional stability, hygiene issue
Have and maintain a valid driver's license
High School Diploma/GED required, experience with autism, IDD and/or elder care is preferred
Valid driver's license. Driving record will be reviewed
Good verbal and written communication skill
Be able to work with minimal supervision
Show empathy and patience
Be able to care for a home: cleaning, laundry, cooking, grocery shopping
Be willing to assist with showering and toileting, and other personal care as needed
Be able to communicate with medical providers and relay the information given
Be attentive and participate at trainings and apply the information to the job duties
Have good time management skills in the area of completing necessary paperwork, timecards, other tasks as assigned
Build a professional and respectful relationship with family, county agencies, and all RHD personnel
Have good attendance and report to shift, trainings and meetings on time
Basic computer skills
Be a team player
A criminal background check will be conducted as per regulations and the chosen candidate will need to obtain a physical and TB check at his/her own cost.
