Resources for Human Development is looking for the motivated, hard working candidate to support a gentleman diagnosed with Intellectual Developmental Disability and Autism live in his own home.
The interested candidate must be able to work to the following scheduled for a total of 36 hours:
Sunday 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
Monday 11:00 p.m.- 7:00 a.m.
Tuesday 11:00 p.m. -7:00 a.m.
Friday 11:00 a.m. -7:00 p.m.
Minimum Job Duties:
Support the individual in working on outcomes and action steps
Assist individuals with budgeting skills, financial decisions and making purchases
Give input in completing annual skill assessments
Provide personal care as needed to assist the individual in maintaining their health and appropriate public appearance. This may include but not limited to diapering, toothbrushing, hair and nail care, bathing and/or dressing
Support the individual in completing household responsibilities, meal prep and attending to personal matters, including health maintenance, personal safety
Support individuals in achieving outcomes and desired activities.
Support individuals in developing and maintaining appropriate relationships with the community, family and friends
Support the individual in advocating for themselves, and be an advocate for the individual when needed
Document accurately all progress notes, mileage logs, MARs, incident reports, seizure charts, behavioral charts, workman comp paperwork before leaving shift
Support the individual is addressing issues concerning the home, vehicle, or RHD/individual property and reporting concerns to the appropriate parties
Complete electronic time sheet and all electronic documentation (electronic health record) at the end of every shift
Attend all mandatory staff trainings as identified by RHD, or State or governing agencies
Clearly communicate with other Direct Support Professionals, families, RHD supervisory personnel, support coordination and ancillary services
Immediately report any change of status in an individual including but not limited to injuries, illnesses, behavioral issues, emotional stability, hygiene issues
You must also be able to attend monthly staff meetings, supervisory meetings and regular trainings that are held during the day or evening. This gentleman requires around the clock support so weekends and holidays are required.
Job Duties and Requirements:
Valid driver's license
High School Diploma/GED required
Good verbal and written communication skill
Be able to work minimal supervision
Show empathy and patience
Be able to care for a home: cleaning, laundry, cooking, grocery shopping
Be willing to assist with showering and toileting, and other personal care as needed
Be able to communicate with medical providers and relay the information given
Be attentive and participate at trainings and apply the information to the job duties
Have good time management skills in the area of completing necessary paperwork, timecards, other tasks as assigned
Build a professional and respectful relationship with family, county agencies, and all RHD personnel
Have good attendance and report to shift, trainings and meetings on time
Basic computer skills
Be a team player
\While not required, it is preferred the interested candidate has some experience with care giving, Intellectual developmental disabilities and/or autism.
A criminal background check will be conducted as per regulations and the chosen candidate will need to obtain a physical and TB check at his/her own cost.
