Position Description
Cook

Program Summary

NOVA II is a residential program serving adults with co-occurring significant mental health diagnoses and serious medical issues.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Maintains respectful and trauma-informed interactions with all residents, staff, families and providers at all times.
  • Prepares meals for all NOVA II residents based on established menus.
  • With input from director, program manager, food consultant, creates menus that take into account health needs and preferences of residents.
  • Maintains accurate, up to date inventory of food on premises.
  • Shops for food/ingredients based on inventory.
  • Serves meals while on duty.
  • For meals when not on duty: Preps meals and leaves for staff with understandable instructions as to how to complete.
  • Incorporates residents in cooking and shopping as agreed upon with director, program manager, certified peer specialist, and/or recovery specialist.
  • Maintains clean, organized kitchen.
  • As available, assists residents with activities of daily living.
  • As available, transports/accompanies residents to appointments and outings.
Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Minimum two years experience cooking in group setting.
  • Ability to understand and function within a trauma-informed environment.
  • Ability to lift large packages of meats, produce up to 40 pounds for purchase and storage; ability to transport prepared meals to multiple locations.
  • ServSafe certification is preferred.
  • Institutional experience working with specialty diets preferred.
