Description/Job Summary


NOVA II is a residential program serving adults with co-occurring significant mental health diagnoses and serious medical issues.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains respectful and trauma-informed interactions with all residents, staff, families and providers at all times
  2. Prepares meals for all NOVA II residents based on established menus
  3. With input from director, program manager, food consultant, creates menus that take into account health needs and preferences of residents
  4. Maintains accurate, up to date inventory of food on premises
  5. Shops for food/ingredients based on inventory
  6. Serves meals while on duty
  7. For meals when not on duty: Preps meals and leaves for staff with understandable instructions as to how to complete
  8. Incorporates residents in cooking and shopping as agreed upon with director, program manager, certified peer specialist, and/or recovery specialist
  9. Maintains clean, organized kitchen
  10. As available, assists residents with activities of daily living
  11. As available, transports/accompanies residents to appointments and outings

Required Experience

Minimum two years experience cooking in group setting

Required Education

High School Diploma

Required Qualifications

CPR FIrst Aid

Experience Cooked in Residental setting

A valid driver’s license is required

ServSafe certification is preferred

Institutional experience working with specialty diets preferred

Ability to lift large packages of meats, produce up to 40 pounds for purchase and storage; ability to transport prepared meals to multiple location

Program Summary

NOVA II is a 22-bed residential program developed to address the needs of supporting people in recovery who are challenged with mental health issues and medically fragile complications. The program provides 24-hour nursing for optimum care and medical attention. The goal of the program is three-fold: 1) successful reintegration into a community-based living arrangement with a home-like environment; 2) development of each resident's maximum capacity for independent functioning; and 3) the development of a person-centered residential setting to enhance the quality of the residents' lives. NOVA II serves a five-county area and specializes in serving people with a history of long-term hospitalizations.
