Activities of Daily Living Counselor
RHD NC provides residential supports for men and women with diagnosis of developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis of mental illness and/or physical disabilities. The program focuses on a person-centered planning approach, and much care is given to working
with individuals to create homes and treatment to meet individual needs. The program provides intensive support in the area of life skills, social skills, and community integration with an emphasis on having fun while pursuing personal goals.
The Residential Activities of Daily Living Counselor (ADL Counselor) assesses, plans, implements and evaluates daily living programs and routines for individuals we serve. He/she conducts all program operations in accordance with RHD policy and the regulatory
requirements of the NC DHHS. The ADL Counselor is responsible for ensuring the individuals’ health and safety is protected and that each individual participates to their fullest in activities of daily living. Responsibilities include but are not limited
Assisting and supporting consumers in obtaining and maintaining life skills
Symptom management for and with consumers
Maintaining cleanliness of the home
Assisting and Support residents in maintaining daily schedule
Reporting facility concerns to the Program Manager
Providing and teaching medication administration to residents
Planning and preparing meals
Assisting with consumer laundry
Completing required program documentation
Provide therapeutic mentoring and symptom monitoring and management
Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma, Associates degree preferred (degree in psychology, sociology, counseling, social work, education).
- Minimum: 2 years’ experience working in a residential facility or mental health setting is preferred
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with consumers and other staff
- Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Valid Driver’s license required
Salary: $10.00- an hour
