Resources for Human Development (RHD) NC provides residential supports for men and women with diagnosis of developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis of mental illness and/or physical disabilities. The program focuses on a person-centered planning approach,
and much care is given to working with individuals to create homes and treatment to meet individual needs. The program provides intensive support in the area of life skills, social skills, and community integration with an emphasis on improving quality of
life while pursuing personal goals.
The Residential Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Counselor assists program participants with implementing daily living programs and routines. He/she conducts all program operations in accordance with RHD, state and federal regulatory requirements. The ADL
Counselor is responsible for ensuring the individuals’ health and safety is protected and that each individual participates to their fullest in activities of daily living. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assisting participants in obtaining and maintaining life skills
Assist with reaching goals on person centered plan
Maintain cleanliness of the home
Assist and Support residents in maintaining daily schedule
Report facility concerns to the Program Manager
Provide and teaching medication administration to residents
Plan and prepare meals
Assisting/ teaching laundry skills
Completion of required daily program documentation
Provide therapeutic mentoring, symptom monitoring and management
Encourage community engagement
Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma, Associates degree preferred (degree in psychology, sociology, counseling, social work, education).
Strong problem solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with consumers and other staff
Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
Valid Driver’s license required
