Position Summary

The Home Manager shall serve as a model of appropriate teaching, behavior shaping strategies; communication with individuals served by the program and provide leadership and guidance to the staff.  S/he will ensure that the health and safety of all individuals is protected and that all people are treated with respect and dignity.  Additionally, S/he will ensure that all individuals are provided opportunities for community participation, relationship building, choice and decision making, enhancing adaptive and interpersonal skills.

Essential Duties and Functions
  • Provide direct supervision to Direct Support Professionals by maintaining ongoing communication with staff regarding performance expectations
  • Maintain appropriate staffing ratios within the service location at all times
  • Participate in the hiring process to ensure the best matching of staff to the needs of the individual supported and the services location
  • Conduct staff training around regulatory and compliance standards and individual specific needs
  • Oversee day to day operations the home environment
  • Ensure individuals supported have appropriate access to community medical services as directed by the Nurse Consultant in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and procedural standards of the Individual Support Plan process
  • Maintain budget parameters including expenditures on supplies, keeping overtime hours at a minimum, tracking employee status and by ensuring accuracy of payroll entries.
  • Establish proactive communication with all stakeholders, family members and Circle of Support members
  • Maintain regular email communications for agency purposes
  • Other specific duties may be assigned by the supervisor based on the needs of the program, services locations and individuals supported
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
  • High School Diploma
  • 2-4 years’ experience in IDD services
  • 1 year supervisory or management experience required
  • Ability to pass background check and Medicaid and Medicare exclusion checks
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to supervise and manage staff in a respectful manner
  • Must have access to personal vehicle for use on the job as necessary
  • Must maintain a current driver’s license
  • Experience utilizing an electronic health record preferred

Hazard and Atmospheric Conditions
Additional Special Working Conditions:  Local travel, after hours on-call.  Provide services in participants’ homes.

Lifting Requirements
Moderate to Heavy – exerts or lifts more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds and requiring a good deal of walking or standing. Some work involves sitting with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.
