The Coordinated Homeless Outreach Center (CHOC) provides emergency shelter and meals for single homeless individuals in Montgomery County, provides outreach to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, and provides case management services to those residing in the shelter. The Unit Director oversees daily shelter operations, provides leadership to all staff, and ensures that all RHD employee policies as well as CHOC policies and procedures are being properly followed. This is a full time, 40 hour per week, position with a need for flexibility in order to provide support and leadership to all shifts.
Monitor daily logs to ensure that adverse situations are followed up with as needed.
Support and train staff in following funding, agency, and program rules and guidelines and properly completing all required documentation.
Ensure staff are following partner agency policies and guidelines.
Address all staff, client, and building issues that are reported to the Unit Director.
Lead Resident Community Meetings.
Intervene and mediate with client issues as needed.
Support all shifts towards operating in a uniform manner.
Bridge communication and knowledge gaps between shelter and case management staff so both groups of staff can be more collaborative and supportive of each other.
Bridge communication between outreach and shelter staff in regard to client admission, discharge, and personal needs.
Manage building related inspections (kitchen, sprinklers, fire extinguishers, etc.)
Ensure full staffing and oversee interview and hiring processes.
Identify training needs
Manage all community outreach from various groups
Oversight of the policies and procedures of the CHOC.
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience. Plus a minimum 5 years’ experience in behavioral health/homeless service setting.
Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree Preferred) in a Human Service realted field
Excellent computer skills with a proficiency in utilizing all aspects of Microsoft Office and other databases;
Experience with consumers having mental health and/or substance abuse disorders, history of domestic violence, and problematic health conditions.
RHD’s Coordinated Homeless Outreach Center (CHOC) is a year-round, 24-7, emergency housing service for single adults experiencing homelessness in Montgomery County. CHOC serves homeless adult men and women in Montgomery County. In addition to providing emergency shelter, CHOC partners with street outreach, provides onsite housing focused cased management, coordinates transportation, links individuals to rapid rehousing, provides three meals a day, and provides life skills and benefits counseling.
