Description/Job Summary

The primary function of the therapist is to complete intake evaluations and see children and families for individual and group psychotherapy at KIPP Charter Schools, Inc. The therapist also develops treatment plans, monitors treatment progress, collects and monitors outcomes, data and collaborates with other team members. This is a 10-month position. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Conduct individual psychotherapy / family therapy with school age youth (K-12 grade), their caregivers and other family members
    • Complete all intake paperwork   before beginning treatment, meet with parents/guardians (when applicable) and clients to explain documents
    • Complete and file all required paperwork (e.g., progress notes, treatment plans, etc.) in a timely manner (within one week of session). Maintain all client charts in good standing
    • Complete audit of client charts and fix any concerns identified in these audits in a timely manner
    • Keep separate records of all client contacts, including individual and group therapy contacts, classroom observations and assessments. Keep records (in client’s chart) of all non-face-to-face contacts and attempted contacts. On a weekly basis a spreadsheet record of client contacts to Unit Director or identified supervisor
    • Create client treatment plans within two weeks of starting services and update each treatment plan every three months
    • Complete appropriate discharge paperwork and aftercare plans upon discharge of clients from program
    • Assess client’s for psychiatry needs and make appropriate referral for psych services (when applicable)
    • Accompany to psych appointment (when applicable)
  • Conduct group psychotherapy with children / adolescents
    • Groups to be based on empirically supported group therapy protocols. Conduct skills (non-therapy) groups as needed  
  • Work with KIPP staff members, especially the Assistant Principal of Specialized Services (APSS) and Social workers or clinical /SPED team to determine appropriate referrals for individual and group therapy
    • Attend meetings with school (staff as needed)
    • Collaborate closely with school administrator and staff
  • Consult with other mental health providers and/or other professionals as needed to ensure continuity of care
  • Complete incident reports in case of significant events
  • Attend individual / group supervisor with assigned supervisor
  • Utilize RHD’s Electronic Health Record, myAvatar, to complete clinical documentation including progress notes for every encounter
  • Maintain all participant documentation to be provided to the school and/or KIPP agency.
  • Attend weekly individual and group supervision as directed
  • Participate in all mandatory and ongoing trainings as indicated by the Division and School/KIPP.

 
Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in human services or related field
  • Direct clinical experience working with youth, school counseling 
  • LSW, LCSW,  LPC - preferred

STARS provides individual, group and family therapy to students enrolled in services at various school campuses in Philadelphia. Services are provided on-site so as to ensure collaboration and communication between school staff and therapists. Psychiatry services, family therapy, classroom consultation, risk assessments, behavioral interventions and outcomes and utilization reports are offered
