Center for Creative Works seeks a full time Program Specialist to work in our Progressive Art Studio program with talented and dedicated artists with intellectual disabilities. You will have the opportunity to work with our artists engaging them in their pursuit to expand their creative skills and build their work and contributions as artists in their communities and beyond.

The Program Specialist at CCW works within the PA ODP regulations for a 2390 program and is responsible for corresponding documentation for all individuals you are working with. You will help people identify their talents and passions and work with the larger team to create yearly plans and goals for your individuals. The work is a good balance of hands on working with people as well as time focused on documentation and strategizing with a broad team. If you are interested in progressive, engaged and dynamic thinking around identity, work options, creative contribution and community integration for adults with IDD we may be a match for you.  

Currently Program SPecialists are working remotely due to Covid-19 pandemic. As we moved forward management will most like be expected to work rotating at home and at the program. This position therefore requires that you have the ability and time management skills to work un-supervised from home. 

An art background is not necessary for this position but an understanding and respect for the arts is important to understand and help build goals which fit into the mission of CCW. Responsibilities/Duties

  • Oversee the quality of programmatic plans, community access, volunteer opportunities, work experiences, and necessary services and supports that are provided meet the participants’ needs and preferences.
  • Create, review and implement individual outcomes and action steps to monitor participant progress and all other documentation in respect to the 2390 regulations.
  • Assist participants in determining what outcomes, volunteer opportunities, work experiences would meet their needs and/or preferences.
  • Attend and document ISP meetings, and ISP reviews along with SC. monitor annual ISP progress for all participants. Ensure all ISP’s are accurate and person-centered.
  • Organize, maintain and update participant files.
  • Review service notes and additional data sheets if applicable daily.
  • Work within CCW’s electronic health record system to create all documentation and data capture.
  • Maintain open communication with individuals, families and other team members.
  • Coordinate and attend monitoring visits of SCs and other outside monitors.
  • Serve as incident management point person

Required Experience

  • 1-4 years experience working directly with individuals with Autism/MH/IDD.

Required Education

(1) master's degree or above from an accredited college or university in Special Education, Psychology, Public Health, Rehabilitation, Social Work, Speech Pathology, Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or other human services field.

OR

(2) bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Special Education, Psychology, Public Health, Rehabilitation, Social Work, Speech Pathology, Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or other human services field; and 1 year experience working directly with disabled persons.

OR

(3) associate's degree or completion of a 2-year program from an accredited college or university in Special Education, Psychology, Public Health, Rehabilitation, Social Work, Speech Pathology, Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or other human services field; and 3 years experience working directly with disabled persons.

OR

(4)license or certification by the State Board of Nurse Examiners, the State Board of Physical Therapists Examiners, or the Committee on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification or be a licensed psychologist or registered occupational therapist; and 1 year experience working directly with disabled persons.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of PA Chapter 2390 regulations
  • Demonstrate strong professionalism, organizational, leadership and time management skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to engage clients and Direct Support Professionals in effective, therapeutic and healthy interactions
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form. Ability to interact with all levels of staff
  • Ability to establish priorities, coordinate work activities, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, open fast-paced work environment

Our staff of artists and instructors work with participants to guide in the areas of specialized professions and the art making process, while offering professional and technique skills.
