The teaching artist position at the Center for Creative Works works together with participants at CCW to guide, encourage art-making techniques and skills both in regard to free art making as well as possible creative vocational skills, and help teach control
and knowledge of professional art making materials. CCW promotes the artwork and cultual identity of our participant artist. This position requires an art background with skills in various art making techniques and/or materials. This position is responsible
for contributing as a member of the CCW team to curriculum ideas and direction of CCW as a unique arts center. The Teaching Artist participates in every aspect of care for our participants as well as in their educational and creative development and works
together with the entire CCW team on appropriate functional aspects of day-to-day programming. Artists are welcomed and encouraged to be an active participant in the design and growth of this organization, contributing their own creative thought and ideas

Great position for new graduates looking for experience teaching or with an interest in Outsider Art.
Be part of the arts instructor team and design creative projects to be carried out at the center, assist our participants in learning skills and materials necessary to carry out projects as well as their own, individual artwork.
Oversee a group of up to 10 participant artists. Instruct and guide in the creation of their work.
Instruct in the medium in which you are most proficient.
Introduce medium specific materials and techniques.
Contribute their own art skills and knowledge to the growth of CCW participants’ skill set and artistic vision
Meet the basic needs of our participants, as well as provide vocational and artistic programming.
Actively engage participants in artistic activities
Possibly drive agency vehicles or use public transportation to assist individuals in accessing the community
Assist in promoting and showing of art through various exhibition venues.
Complete daily documentation
Be available to work occasionally on a Saturday if needed.
Attend mandatory staff meetings and in-service training days
Complete 24 hours of training yearly
Candidates must possess one of the following sets of qualifications:
A College Degree with art or music background preferred. Stong history of studio work may be accepted as alternative.
Strong studio Art background
Some teaching experience preferred but not neccessary
