The function of the Vocational Specialist is to provide education and employment services to consumers. The Vocational Specialist’s job responsibilities include teaching job readiness skills, facilitating employment group, on the job support, building connections with employers, and linking consumers to educational resources.
Provide services at times and locations convenient to clients.
Provide on-call, after-hour support to clients as scheduled.
Provide face-to-face services in the client’s home, in public places, wherever necessary.
Ensure clients have access to and utilize the ACT after-hours on-call staff for emergencies or after-hour support.
Utilize Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and Stages of Change techniques to engage and provide treatment to clients.
Assume lead roles with designated clients. Develop, coordinate, and implement treatment, rehabilitation, and support services for these cases.
Provide direct assistance with developing individualized jobs based on client’s needs, abilities and interest.
Provide job readiness training including resume writing, interview skills, communication skills, utilizing public transportation, etc.
Confer with public and private employers to establish job opportunities for rehabilitation clients; aids clients in securing employment consistent with their capabilities; monitors client progress.
Develop treatment plans, early intervention plans, and recovery action plans with clients.
1-3 years of related experience
1 year of training and/or experience in vocational rehabilitation and support
A Bachelor’s degree in in one of the core behavioral health disciplines or related field including, but not limited to; psychology, education, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or general studies with major concentration in a human services-related field from an accredited institution
The ability to interact professionally with clients, their families and other professionals
Organizational skills; ability to complete documentation timely and accurately
The ACT mobile treatment support team will provide treatment and support services to one hundred (100) persons per year. The persons served by the team will be individuals with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues and their families.
