Description/Job Summary

Under the authority of the Program Director, the Assistant Director assures that all operating policies, procedures and regulations (PA Title Reg 5310) are followed for Hope Springs. In addition, the Assistant will provide psychiatric rehabilitation services to individuals living with serious and persistent mental illness at the Chalet. Assistant Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the program; supervision of staff; interaction of consumers, significant others and collateral resources; and assisting consumers with their daily living needs.  Assistant Director has the authority to make final clinical and operational decisions.


  • Provide supervision of staff and oversight of services for consumers.
  • Develop and maintain community, governmental and regulatory resources and relationships.  Establish relationships with State and Local departments, offices and community providers.
  • Develop and secure affiliation agreements and contracts with medical, mental health and human service providers and consultants.
  • Establish, implement and evaluate standards of care to assure the optimum level of quality of life.  Compose and submit required reports.
  • Maintain aggregate statistics, quality assurance records, and records necessary to plan, interpret, and evaluate the service delivery system on an annual basis.
  • Develop awareness of trends within the profession as they relate to the program. Introduce new and creative concepts and assure the program’s adherence to State, Federal, and Local requirements.
  • Responsible for information contained within consumer records, and for insuring that all services and paperwork are documented in accordance with all treatment appropriate regulations and the agency’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintain On-Call responsibilities as follows and attend bi-monthly meetings:
  • Answer all work related phone calls or provide a call back within 15 minutes to the site.
  • Provide staff with feedback and guidance for questions and circumstances that may arise or converse with Assistant Director or Program Director for direction when necessary.
  • Covering of shifts if a worker calls off and coverage is not found by the beginning of the shift; it is expected that the on-call personnel will arrive for the start of this shift if given sufficient time or within one hour.
  • Completion of any on-call paperwork that is required: i.e. on-call phone log or HCSIS reports.
  • Attends in-house and outside trainings appropriate to tasks and responsibilities.
  • Encourages staff’s continued skills development through in-house and appropriate outside trainings.
  • Provide administrative support to the Program Director, including, but not limited to attendance of weekly management meetings, and representation of the program to internal RHD and external stakeholders as an ambassador of Hope Springs.
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Director.

Required Experience

Two (2) years of mental health experience

Two (2) year of supervisory experience

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Psychology or related field

Required Qualifications

  • Valid PA Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • He/she must have the ability and experience to make independent decisions when consultation with the Program Director
