Description/Job Summary

Family Practice & Counseling Network is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant for The Abbotsford-Falls Family Practice & Counseling Health Center.The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for facilitating patient access, conduct triage via phone and in person, assist with daily appointment scheduling when needed, adjust schedules to ensure continuity of care with responsible provider and timely patient flow as needed, partner with medical assistants to ensure completion of referral request and medication refills in a timely manner. The Lead Medical Assistant will provide the necessary support throughout primary care to uphold the health center mission by assuring that patients receive health care that is competent, caring, and meets with a high degree of satisfaction
 
Team members are expected uphold the health center mission by assuring that patients receive health care that is competent, caring, and meets with a high degree of satisfaction. In addition, staff must support FPCN's commitment to the creation of a trauma-informed system of care that continually recognizes and responds to the impact of traumatic stress on all those who have contact  with the organization, including children, adults, families, caregivers, and staff.

Essential Duties and Functions

  1. Manage patient flow in primary care, in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse as needed. Partner with NP/MA team to expedite primary care delivery workflow.
  2. Conduct triage via phone and in person; collaborate with Clinical Nurse to triage patients with complex needs.
  3. Assist with daily appointment scheduling as needed.
  4. Adjust schedules to ensure continuity of care with responsible provider and timely patient flow as needed.
  5. Work with MAs to ensure completion of requests for referrals and refills in a timely manner.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • At least 10 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant
  • Experience working within a community based health center preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Current Certification in Commonwealth of PA
  • Exemplary organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Highly responsible and reliable as well as courteous
  • Unconditional ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Ability to function as a team member
  • Computer Competency with Word Processing
  • Experience working with an Electronic Medical Record system
