Description/Job Summary

This position is located 75 miles North of Philadelphia, PA
Under the supervision of the Program Director and the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Supervisor, the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker will uphold the values of RDH, the POWER Program and the rights of the participants. The PR Worker assures that all operating procedures and regulations are followed.
The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker must be understanding of and interested in working with persons with severe and persistent mental illness. They are responsible for assisting the POWER Team members to provide direct services in collaboration with consumers, significant others and other treatment providers. They must also be knowledgeable, flexible and able to respond to appropriately and effectively in a crisis situation. He or she must be assertive and able to communication well with both the consumers being served and the various persons and organizations they will be in contact with in the community. They must be well organized, goal oriented and able to follow through with numerous responsibilities. Optimism, creativity and energy will be essential to their efforts on behalf of the consumers they serve.
Essential Duties and Functions
  • To support and promote the mission statement and values of RHD and the POWER Program.
  • To engage consumers in a trusting and supportive relationship, providing emotional support within professional boundaries as needed.
  • Provide 1 on 1 PR Individual support within the designated location chosen by the individual.
  • Provide Site-Based Group sessions focusing on several PR Domains.
  • To develop, implement and support the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Plan.
  • Meet established productivity requirements set by the program.
  • To assist consumers in reaching the goals he or she has set in the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Plan.
  • To provide direct support of rehabilitative or educational nature, assisting a consumer to achieve desired goals.
  • To complete documentation of services daily and in a timely manner, according to agency, county and state regulations.
  • To participate fully as a member of the team in staffing and other meetings, offering relevant input and feedback and accepting such from the team.
  • Maintain one’s physical, mental and emotional well-being to maximize the healthy function of the team and model healthy functioning to those we support.
  • Attend Psychiatric Rehabilitation Orientation training within one year of hire date.
  • Obtain Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner certification within two years of employment.
  • To complete agency paperwork and personnel materials (e.g. timesheets, vacation requests, etc.) in a timely and accurate manner, required by agency policies and procedures.
  • To work in a collaborative and collegial manner with other staff both intra- and inter-agency in assisting both the consumers and the program to meet the identified goals.
  • To participate in on-going planning and Continuous Quality Improvement of POWER.
  • To perform other duties as assigned with the general function of the position.
A Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker must have one of the following:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • An Associate’s degree and 1 year work experience in mental health direct services
  • A Certified Peer Specialist Certification and 1 year paid or volunteer work experience in mental health direct service.
  • A high school diploma or GED and 2 years work experience in human services which must include 1 year of mental health direct service.
A Psychiatric Rehabilitation Work must have:
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience facilitating strength based groups.
  • Experience in developing curriculum for PR skill based groups.
  • Experience in Evidence Based Practices and curriculum.
Complete Criminal Background and Child Abuse History clearances and reports must meet funder, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications include:
  • Valid PA Driver’s License and proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in an Electronic Health Records (EHR) documentation system.
