Resources for Human Development is seeking to hire Direct Support Professionals to work directly with individuals dually diagnosed with mental illness and developmental disabilities in the North Hills/Allegheny Valley/Penn Hills/Plum/Duquesne/Beaver Falls areas.
DSP's are responsible for the support and enhancement of the quality of life of individuals served, by assisting in day-to-day activities that promote positive outcomes.
Duties include, but are not limited to, providing instruction, assistance and role modeling in life skill areas of leisure time, financial management, medication monitoring, crisis management, accessing community resources, community engagement, shopping
and vocational development. Personal care is also needed at times.
Starting salary range: $11.25- $11.75/hr. (More in some locations).
Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
HS/GED required. Prior experience working with individuals with challenging behaviors is desired. A valid Driver's License is required. Prior experience/education in a social services field is preferred, but program specific training will be provided. Knowledge of the impact of trauma on the well-being of the individuals receiving services, as well as the impact on staff well-being preferred.
