Description/Job Summary

While practicing RHD’s Values in the workplace and under the direction of theDirector of RHD Delaware IDD services, the Assistant Director will perform theessential duties listed below

Responsibilities/Duties

Supervise the assigned Program Managers by ensuring that service recipients are treated with respect and dignity, and by affording service recipients the opportunity to exercise their rights.

Supervise the assigned Program Managers and staff by providing training, conducting supervision meetings regarding performance objectives to include introductory evaluations upon hire and annually thereafter. Is also responsible for providing oversight of all Direct Service Professionals.

Provide supervision and support to the assigned Program Managers in fulfilling the program’s goals through the process of delivering high quality services and outcomes across all services.

Support the Program Managers by ensuring that all Fleet Vehicles, which are assigned to the residential sites, are maintained and operated by DDDS/DHSS/Fleet standards and RHD’s policies.

Ensure that all residences are staffed as budgeted and based on the person-centered plans of all service recipients.

Conduct residential physical site assessments every other month and implement sound plans with the Program Managers to address any identified deficiencies timely. These assessments also include, but are not necessarily limited to, the monthly site inspections, fire drill logs and fire system checks, etc.

Provide regular reports to the Director on program accomplishments, challenges, quality assurance benchmarks and professional accomplishments. On behalf of the Director, represent the program at internal and external meetings with other stakeholders to include building and maintaining positive relationships with service recipients and their families.

Support and assist the program efforts to recruit and hire qualified applicants to maintain a high quality and valuable workforce.

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, attend all LSP meetings with service recipients and/or as directed in the service recipients’ Person-Centered Plans.

Partner with the Program Coordinator to ensure that LSPs are implemented and documented by Direct Service Professionals based on the valued outcomes noted in the plans. Function as the Program Coordinator when the Program Coordinator is absent and or as directed by the Director.

Partner with the Fiscal Operations Manager to ensure that individual Personal Spending Records “PSRs” are maintained as regulated by DDDS/DHSS standards and RHD’s policies. Review and sign-off on all PSRs monthly and or as otherwise directed by the Director.

Partner with nursing, behavioral analyst services and the clinical team to ensure that all related services are provided and documented consistently per the required plans, for the service recipients.

Maintain on-call responsibility and respond timely and appropriately to all situations.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Experience

Five (5) years of progressive experience in a leadership role in a social service organization. Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities a plus. 

Required Education

    Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.

    Required Qualifications

    Be a strategic thinker and planner with a proven ability to motive staff.
    Must have a clean driving record.

    Must pass criminal background checks, drug testing and fulfill all training requirements.
