This position leads and provides supervision for the Report Development Team. The Report Development Team supports the deployment and ongoing use of applications by writing and developing needed reports or forms/functionality within and outside the applications as needed. This position includes being available for assisting with support related to the data stored in the applications’ database and understanding how the applications handle the data.
Report Development Functions:
Participate in and take a leadership role in the weekly myAvatar forms & reports prioritization meeting.
Monitor myAvatar support tickets escalated to Netsmart and identify and propose needed changes to forms and reports.
Develop a strong understanding of the database structures and/or service interfaces of myAvatar and related systems that reports and forms will be written for.
Develop reports using appropriate development tools, including but not limited to Crystal Reports and in-application creation tools, based on specifications and/or requirements as provided.
Develop forms using appropriate development tools and in-application creation tools, based on specifications and/or requirements as provided.
Develop any necessary SQL queries, views and/or stored procedures to facilitate the development of assigned reports and forms.
Assist in the creation of specifications and/or requirements for requested reports and forms and communicate them to Report Development Team
Perform comprehensive testing of all reports and forms developed using appropriate testing methodologies and realistic data.
Coordinate and participate in the deployment of reports and forms to the various runtime environments, including but not limited to development, UAT and live/production environments, following best practices.
Provide resolution of issues, bugs and refinements to QA and end users during testing, approval and production use of reports and forms. Such resolutions will be documented as defined by policy and best practices.
Serve as a source of knowledge and expertise on the reports and forms created and the data sources they access.
Produce both user and technical documentation for created reports and forms. Such documentation will be sufficiently detailed to allow educated users to proficiently use the produced work and qualified writers/developers to modify extend the work.
Work with Applications and EHR managers to develop a KPI reporting process. Reports will be provided weekly and monthly.
Provide weekly status reporting on reports and forms in development and wide-spread incidents.
Complete Incident forms where appropriate.
Manage the Report Development Team through supervisory processes and performance evaluation.
Complete performance reviews and professional development plans for the Report Development Team.
Coordinate team meetings, one-on-one meetings, and supervision meetings.
Ensure staffing levels are adequate for workload.
Prioritization of work to ensure work is completed in a timely manner.
Recruit, train, and support the Report Development Team.
Review and work with the team to create Career Development Plans for report writers and analysts.
Look for opportunities to mentor staff and develop methods for knowledge sharing.
Manage staffing and scheduling.
Attend and participate in professional group/association meetings. Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of information systems/technology.
May be required to be on-call or work after normal operating hours.
Perform other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as may be assigned.
A minimum of 3 years professional experience with developing in Crystal Reports 2008+.
A minimum of 5 years professional experience with relational databases, including normalization, analysis and the creation/modification of views, queries and stored procedures.
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
Ability and desire to learn and apply new and tools, technologies and methodologies.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret healthcare/EHR data.
Ability to work well within a team and independently.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Previous Supervisory Experience preferred by not required.
