The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, management, and support of RHD’s network technologies and virtual infrastructure throughout the enterprise. This engineer is also responsible for the development of solutions for customer networks
including engineering and implementation.
Essential Duties and Functions
Provide second and third level support for network-based issues including virtual private networks, routed networks, enterprise backbone, storage area networks, and monitoring networks as well provide support for special projects as they arise.
Provide support for RHD’s virtual infrastructure.
Provide support for RHD’s wireless infrastructure.
Develop solutions for site turn-ups in conjunction with the Technical Support Services team as well as branch office visits and evaluations including wireless and printing.
Works in collaborative environment with all tiers of technical support services
Ensure efficient operation of the enterprise network and provide metrics using monitoring systems and related tools.
Work with 3rd party vendors to develop new technologies aimed at improving key technologies like Video Conferencing, telephony, internet, content delivery, and disaster recovery/prevention.
Maintain superior documentation for all corporate and customer networks and related technologies.
Utilize best practices to ensure clean deployments of established firewall (config and policy), switching (wired and wireless), routing, and other internet/extranet technologies throughout the corporation.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in network design and/or engineering supporting networks of over 200 nodes.
Strong understanding of routing protocols. Experience with VLANs is a plus.
Associate’s Degree in MIS/IT preferred. MCSE or other advanced certification can be substituted for a degree.
Strong communication skills both written and oral.
Strong documentation and customer service skills, as well as a keen attention to detail are required.
