Description/Job Summary

The Payroll Coordinator – Level 1 conducts payroll functions for a very small group of programs with supervisory direction and guidance. This role is expected to project a professional company image through in-person and telephone interactions and display superior customer service skills. This position requires computer knowledge, math skills, organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively. 

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Manually enters and maintains rate, status, and departmental changes in the HRIS system
  • Calculates overtime (weighted average), differential and gross wages as necessary
  • Effectively communicates information about calculations, garnishments, deductions, and PTO accruals to address employee or program questions
  • Reviews payroll documentation for accuracy through edit process
  • Distributes payroll checks to units for regular and supplemental payroll processes as needed
  • Responds timely to all customers’ (employees, managers, external entities) inquiries or requests for information, while maintaining security protocols
  • Promotes a workplace environment focused on superior customer service
  • Assists with audit (including confirmation of file contents, calculations, etc.), year-end processing and distribution of W-2s and other special projects as required or assigned

Required Experience

At least one year of business experience or Associate’s degree
